Case 1: 48 yo female
CT Findings:
Low attenuation in left frontal white matter with possible extension into the corpus callosum consistent with vasogenic edema
No hemorrhage, calcification or obvious mass
MR Findings:
T2 white matter signal in the left frontal lobe due to edema
Cystic component
No enhancement
Case 1: 48 yo female
Oligodendroglioma
Typical location:
85% supratentorial; most commonly in frontal lobe
Involves subcortical white matter and cortex
Typical CT findings:
Mixed density
70-90% contain calcification
20% have cystic degeneration
Hemorrhage is uncommon
Case 1: 48 yo female
Typical MR findings:
Heterogeneous on T1 and T2 due to calcification and possible cystic change
May have very little edema
50% enhance
Typical PET findings:
FDG uptake is similar to that of normal white matter
