Incidence: most common primary intra-axial neoplasm in the infra-tentorial space in adults

Site: cerebellum (83%), Spinal cord (10%), Medulla (2-3%)

Mean age of presentation: 39 yrs

Polycythemia 10-40%.

Structure

Cyst with solid mural nodule (55%)

Solid (40%)

Marked enhancement of solid portion

Serpentine flow voids of feeding vessels.

Small highly vascular nodule within an avascular mass

Intense, prolonged vascular stain

Occasionally with A-V shunting.

10-20% of HB in setting of vHL

45% vHL get HB

Lesions

Cysts (59-72%): Renal, Pancreatic, hepatic, epipidymal

Renal Cell Carcinoma (27-51%)

Pheochromocytoma (10%)

Pancreatic islet cell tumors.
