Go Back Brain/17. Vessel/Vascular Disorder/17.7 - Occlusion of paired Superfiical Sylvian Veins/ Go to Index
This patient presented with SAH and had surgical clipping of an MCA aneurysm.
Dissection and separation of the sylvian fissure may cause trauma to the surrounding venous structures.
The loss of normal venous drainage may cause additional edema and hemorrhages in the surrounding brain from venous insufficiency.
One vein drains the frontal lobe, and the other drains the temporal lobe when paired veins are present.
