Thyroglossal duct cyst is remnant of duct and embedded in strap muscles. 50% at hyoid level, 25% SUPRAHYOID, 25% INFRAHYOID.

Usually thin-wall of enhancement, but may be thick, if inflammed.

Usually midline in suprahyoid location and eccentric in infrahyoid region.

Differential: Epidermoid/dermoid, ranula, laryngocele, necrotic node, rarely neurenteric cyst.

Papillary thyroid carcinomas may occur in duct remnant.
