Chordomas represent 2-4% of bone tumors.

Frequency in descending order sacrum, clivus, and spinal column.

Skull base tumors have equal male to female incidence, but the spine has a 2:1 male to female ratio.

Intracranial chordomas present at a younger age than spinal tumors and they arise from notochord remnants.
