These are nonsegmented C2 through C4 vertebral bodies (Klippel-Feil anomaly).

Higher level cervical vertebral anomalies C3 and above such as Klippel-Feil and assimilation of C1 to the occiput may preclude contact sports. They are more frequently associated with catastrophic injuries.
